If you're more interested in culture and experiencing Mexico with locals you have many options.  Merida is located in the heart of the yucatan and a wonderful place to spend 3-4 days.  Many tourists use it as a starting point to visit other Mayan sites in the area such as Uxmal or the Puuc Route.  There are many other colonial towns that have managed to retain their cultural endearments.  Some of our favorites are Oaxaca, Queretaro, Guadalajara

.

Mexico has amazing beaches if you're the type who likes to relax with a good book and some sand on your vacation.  Places like Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun

all have large tourist infrastructure and are easily accessible from anywhere in the world.

Puebla
Puebla

Puebla is on the main route between Mexico City and the port of Veracruz and is one of the most important colonial cities in Mexico.  It was named a world heritage site in 1987 due to its history and architectural styles ranging from Renaissance to Mexican Baroque.  The city is also well known for talavera pottery and its wonderful cuisine which includes mole poblano and chiles en nogada.  There are many wonderful things to see here and it’s a great city to explore on foot.  The historic center is beautiful, and visits to the Museo de la Revolution and the cathedral should not be missed.  We can help you plan a wonderful trip to Puebla, whether it’s just a day trip or weeklong adventure!

Things to see and do in Puebla:

Los Fuertes – The forts where the battle of Puebla took place and is commemorated each year by the infamous Cinco de Mayo.

Historic Center – Granted UNESCO World Heritage status, this historic downtown contains wonderful colonial architecture.

Safari Zoo – Modern wildlife park where over 3,000 animals roam free as you take a safari style tour.

Cathedral – Built in the 1500 and 1600’s, it has two of the tallest church towers in Mexico.

Chipilo – An authentic Italian town located 20 minutes outside of the city.

National Park La Malintzi – A beautiful day trip where you can hike or camp in lovely mountains and forests, it also contains a volcano called La Malinche.

Bus Tour – This is a good way to get an overview of the city so you know where to go back and spend more time.
