This ceremony will officially close the celebrations of Carnival; here the widow mourns the death of Juan. One of the nicest most popular ceremonies.

Each Saturday night an outdoor stage is set up for performances by musical or dance groups from all parts of Mexico. Chairs are available, but there is usually standing room only. There are also booths selling food and hand made items from all over the world.

This is one event not to miss in Merida. Vendors are set up in Plaza Grande selling Yucatan handcrafts such as guayaberas, honey, dolls, hammocks and many other items. Home made Yucatecan food is also for sale.
