Celestun & Flamingos Guided Tour from Merida
ITINERARY
Celestun National Park is one of the excursions you cannot miss while you are in Merida. It has beautiful beaches, wonderful nature and it is located only 90 km (56 miles) from Mérida. It is unique because you can observe the mix between the salt water from the sea and the freshwater from the 'Ria'.
Celestun is a shelter for Pink Flamingos who live together with many other kinds of native birds. During the excursion you will go on a boat tour along the 'Ria' and you may see pelicans, storks, egrets, ibis and other exotic birds. Mangroves are also and important part of the ecosystem because they filter the waters where the birds get their nourishment.
After the boat tour you will stop at a fresh water spring where you'll have the opportunity to swim.
The excursion comes to and end after you taste delicious local food next to the beach. You will return to your Merida hotel in the afternoon.
