Cenote Extreme - Cenote and Ruins Tour from Merida

Cenote Extreme - Cenote and Ruins Tour from Merida

ITINERARY

This is one of our more interesting day trips as we combine the visit of an important archaeological site with some adventure activities like biking, rappelling and zip- lining.

You are met early in the morning at your hotel in Merida by your Adventures Mexico guide who first takes you to the interesting ruins of Ek Balam. This magical site still has some of the original painted stucco  as well as great masks and statues carved in its buildings. This site is unique in its style and layout. Ek Balam, which means "Black jaguar," was an important ceremonial center during the Postclasic period and is considered one of the most important Mayan cities.

After the visit, we continue our day with some sport activities at Xcanche cenote. To get there we first bike about 1 mile into the jungle. Once you arrive, you have the option of walking or rappelling into the cenote. Zip lining will be another adrenaline option if you want to fly over the cenote.  Finally, have a dip and swim to refresh and relax after a long day.

We will have some leisure time to rest in the hammocks before we bike back.  We return to our Merida hotel at around 6.00pm.
