On the first day of touring, we pick you up at 09:00 AM for a two hour drive to Celestún, and a day of natural landscape sightseeing and birdwatching.

Celestún is a small fishermen village located in the Gulf of Mexico Coast with a vast collection of ecosystems, including beautiful beaches, a lively estuary, and a haunting mangrove forest, amongst others. Thus, it holds a super diverse fauna crowned by the pink caribbean flamingo.

The main part of the trip is a boat tour along the “Ria” (estuary) where you will see pelicans, storks, egrets, ibis and other exotic birds like the Flamingoes.

During the tour, you will go through a natural mangrove tunnel for one of the most exclusive sights, a petrified forest surrrounded by white mangrove "petenes" (hardwood islands surrounded by wetlands, located only in Cuba, South Florida and Yucatan).

Finally you'll get to visit and swim in a "ojo de agua" (submarine spring) of fresh water in the middle of the estuary.

After the visit, we will take you back to Mérida for you to enjoy your last night in our beautiful city!

Breakfast included. (Night in Merida)

On your third day in Mexico, a very traditional cooking class awaits you! This is the best way to experience the real flavors of local cuisine, and one of the most genuine tours in Mérida.

First, your guide will take you to Mérida's main market, Lucas de Gálvez, where you will experience the local culture first hand. You will learn and try some of the local products and popular food, while shopping for every ingredient you'll need in the kitchen. Once you have everything required, your guide will lead you by local bus to your hostess house for cooking a three course meal, and then enjoy the local dishes together in a friendly environment.

Experience the city as a local with your new friends!

Breakfast and Lunch included. (Night in Merida)

Day 4: Uxmal and Kabah tour

Day four is dedicated to Mayan culture, you have the option to visit either Uxmal and Kabah or Chichén Itza.

For Uxmal:

The pick up is at 09:00 AM, and we'll take you straight to Uxmal's archaeological site, one of the most popular ancient mayan cities. “Uxmal” is a mayan word that means “three times built”. Your guide will explain in depth about Puuc architectonic style, representative of the area, look up to the Nun's Quadrangle, the Ball court, the Turtle House and the Governor's Palace, highlights of the city.

Afterwards, you'll visit Kabah's archaeological site, mayan name that means “lord of a strong hand”. Kabah is linked to Uxmal by a “sacbe", a white road used for ceremonial purposes. As part of the Puuc area, Kabah's buildings are also great examples of this heavily decorative style. Watch for the masks of Chaac, mayan god of rain, carved in them.

Finally, there's a stop at a local restaurant for yet another traditional meal, before we take you back to your hotel.

For Chichén Itzá:

The pick up is at 09:00 AM. At Chichen, your guide will explain in depth about the meaningful architecture and the knowledge of the cosmos held by the mayans in this city. This city also has a "sacbe", a white path that links it to the sacred cenote, for which the city gets its name, Chichén Itzá means "at the mouth of the well of the water wizards". In it, mayans offered sacrifices to Chaac, the god of water.

After a long day and long walk, you will be taken to a restaurant to enjoy a typical dish-buffet lunch. Sometimes, there are shows at restaurants to increase the fun. These shows usually include the traditional dance called “Jarana”.

Also, when all of the passengers agree, a visit to cenote Ik kil for a swim is added, but it is never guaranteed. Just in case, keep your swimming clothes by hand!

Tired, full and happy; we'll take you back to your hotel after lunch.

Breakfast and lunch are included in both options. (Night in Merida)

Day 5: Cuzama

This excursion will take you off the beaten path to visit Cuzamá, a sinkhole system where you will admire the underground natural pools of the region, swim and enjoy their cool water! You will climb on a cart pulled by a horse over railroad tracks, known as the Truck Ride.

There are a lot of cenotes located all around Cuzamá, and you'll visit three different ones! Breakfast included. (Night in Merida)
