Get ready to explore the untamed beauty of Baja California Sur, where arid desert meets turquoise sea. This 7-day adventure was designed for active travelers and nature lovers seeking genuine, off-the-beaten-path experiences. Encounter majestic gray whales up close, snorkel in protected marine parks, paddle through pristine bays, hike dramatic canyons, and discover the raw energy of Baja’s landscapes. With daily outdoor activities and seamless logistics, you’ll experience Baja’s wild side—with comfort, safety, and expert guidance.
Arrive at Loreto, a peaceful town nestled between the Sea of Cortez and the Sierra de la Giganta mountains. After hotel check-in, enjoy a walking orientation of the coastal boardwalk and artisan markets. Meet your guide and group for a welcome briefing and adventure overview.
An unforgettable day begins early with a transfer to Magdalena Bay, on the Pacific side of the peninsula—one of the best places on earth to see gray whales (Jan–Mar). Hop aboard a small panga boat for a close encounter with these gentle giants in their natural breeding grounds. After a picnic lunch, return to Loreto by evening.
Today is all about marine adventure. Take a boat to Isla Coronado, part of the Loreto Bay National Marine Park. Snorkel in crystal-clear waters, sunbathe on white-sand beaches, and explore a short volcanic trail offering sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez. Watch for dolphins, rays, and sea lions along the way.
Begin your scenic overland journey south toward La Paz. Midway through the route, stop in the Sierra de la Giganta for a moderate desert canyon hike, where towering volcanic formations, giant cacti, and unexpected desert oases create a dramatic setting. After a hearty ranch-style lunch in the highlands, continue to La Paz’s marina, where a private boat awaits.
Set sail for Isla Espíritu Santo, a UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve. Arrive just in time for a swim and sunset at your glamping base: Camp Cecil de la Isla. Settle into your luxury safari-style tent, enjoy a chef-prepared dinner by the beach, and fall asleep to the sound of the sea.
Wake up to the sound of waves and enjoy a peaceful morning on Isla Espíritu Santo. After breakfast, you’ll have time for a final swim, beach walk, or short paddle before taking the boat back to La Paz. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch in the city and head out to explore a different side of Baja: its surprising urban nature.
In the afternoon, visit the Cactus Sanctuary of El Triunfo, a conservation area that protects some of the largest and oldest cacti in North America. Learn about endemic desert species, hike a scenic trail, and enjoy panoramic views of the Sierra. On the way back, stop in El Triunfo, a former mining town turned cultural gem, for a coffee or quick photo at its famous chimney.
Head to Balandra Bay, known for its calm turquoise waters and iconic mushroom rock. Spend the day kayaking, paddleboarding, or relaxing on the beach. Optional short hike to panoramic cliffs. Return to La Paz and celebrate your last evening with a farewell sunset by the bay.
After breakfast, check out and transfer to La Paz Airport.
