Day 1 Arrival in Mexico City & Culinary Welcome

Arrive in the vibrant capital and settle into your hotel. In the afternoon, explore the Historic Center with visits to the Metropolitan Cathedral and National Palace murals. In the evening, enjoy an informal culinary tour tasting tamales, sopes, huaraches, and tlacoyos near the Zócalo.

Day 2 Teotihuacan & Flavors of Coyoacán

After breakfast, head to the majestic archaeological site of Teotihuacan, where you’ll admire impressive monuments such as the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. For lunch, visit the famous Mictlán Restaurant, located in a cave, to enjoy traditional dishes like mixiote, quesadillas, and sopes. In the afternoon, explore Coyoacán, walk its charming streets, visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, and end the day with ice cream from Helados Siberia and tacos al pastor at El Tizoncito—the restaurant that proclaims itself the inventor of the dish.

Day 3 Barbacoa in Tulancingo & Scenic Transfer to Pátzcuaro

Depart Mexico City and head northeast toward Tulancingo, Hidalgo, to enjoy an early lunch featuring what is known as the best lamb barbacoa in the world—accompanied by rich consomé and freshly handmade tortillas. Afterward, travel through the green highlands and forests of central Mexico en route to Pátzcuaro. Upon arrival, enjoy a dinner of Purépecha cuisine including uchepos, corundas, and caldo michi, a traditional fish soup of the region.

Day 4 Santa Clara del Cobre, Quiroga, Tzintzuntzan, Lake Pátzcuaro & Janitzio Island

Start the day with a visit to the artistic copper-working town of Santa Clara del Cobre, then head to Quiroga for an early lunch of world-famous carnitas and cueritos. Continue to the Purépecha archaeological site at Tzintzuntzan and explore artisan workshops. Then, sail to Janitzio Island for a tasting of white fish and tamales. End the day with a hands-on workshop in traditional gold-leaf painting back in Pátzcuaro.

Day 5 Journey to Guadalajara via Lake Chapala

Drive from Pátzcuaro through the highlands of Michoacán and Jalisco, stopping for a lakeside lunch in Chapala with pescado blanco, charales, and avocado. Arrive in Guadalajara and visit the Cathedral and surrounding colonial streets. End the day with a birria and torta ahogada cooking experience.

Day 6 Artisan Treasures of Tlaquepaque and Tonalá

Spend the day exploring Tlaquepaque and Tonalá, two neighborhoods known for blown glass, pottery, and colorful art. Join a ceramic painting workshop and visit the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, where you'll admire the striking murals of the renowned painter José Clemente Orozco. Enjoy lunch with carne en su jugo and pozole jalisciense. Optional evening mariachi performance.

Day 7 Tequila Town & Agave Experience

Embark on a full-day excursion to Tequila, Jalisco. Visit a working distillery to observe the full process from agave harvest to aging. Sample blanco, reposado, and añejo tequilas. Stroll the colorful town, visit artisan shops, enjoy a traditional lunch and, optionally, explore the Museo Nacional del Tequila.

Day 8 Departure from Guadalajara

Enjoy a relaxing morning stroll or last-minute shopping. Your guide will assist with your transfer to the airport. As you leave behind pyramids, lakes, and flavors, carry with you the vibrant soul of Central Mexico. This journey continues in every story shared and flavor remembered.
