Yucatecan food is recognised around the world and it has roots in Hispanic and mayan culture. Later it was influence by Mesoamerica and nowadays we could see Middle east influence. The combination of these are what characterizes the flavors of the recipes. With creativity and ingenuity of the Yucatecan people have been created wonderful and delicious dishes that captivate the public who visit Yucatan.
The original mayan recipes are completely vegetarian, they used ingredients as tomatoes, corn, leaves, seeds, hot chilli pepper and others. They were cooked with hot stones, directly on fire or raw.
